Paper Wedding

Snowflakes

Paper has become a HUGE element in today’s wedding and event designs. I’m working with a family this year that has a long history of being a leader in the paper industry. While researching fresh ideas and looking for other inspirations, I came across lots of fun ideas of how to integrate paper into creative accents for professional designers and the DYI crowd.

After resetting my eye to look for paper, I was amazed at just how important a role it can play in fresh, fun weddings. The majority of the pictures I am showing are “crafty” ideas, but you will also notice the skilled craftsmanship of some stationers.

Thanks to 100LayerCake for many of these photos!

Such beautiful ideas! I’d love to jump into DIY paper crafts feet first, but I think the most daunting part of it is fear that my efforts will be in vain or (uh! God forbid!) that it will look cheap! This is why I especially love the simple ideas – the kind of projects we did in elementary school, like loop link garlands, but made out of lots of pretty patterned paper (as opposed to faded construction paper as in the days of old). And so many websites and craft stores have templates and scrapbooking sections that make breaking into DIY papercrafts a little less overwhelming. It feels a little like cheating, but it’s a start. And after all, not too many people start riding a bicycle without at first keeping his or her feet close to the ground.
