Amanda & Shane // White?
Usually I meet with a client 2 to 3 times for an event. We have our first consult, lots of information is discussed, they send in a deposit, I write the quote and mail it to them. We meet again, and sometimes a few more times, depending on the situation. We review the written quote each time and adjust as needed to fit my client’s wishes.
Not this time …
After Shane (groom) dropped the deposit check off, I pulled the paperwork. When I opened the file to look at my notes … nothing. All I had was the main contact details and the word “white”. I thought to myself, “How is it possible that I sat with this client for three and one half hours, and had one page of notes that gave me no leads as to what it was we discussed?” After reflecting for a while, I realized it would be one of those events. Needless to say, I wrote up a little breakdown of what I thought might happen and scheduled another meeting. Amanda is busy. Really busy. She creates events for a living. So the only time I could meet with her and her mom, Christine, aka “Majie”, was after 6:30 pm. Those of you who know me, know I am best before evening hours. We sat down and I was ready to roll … get the ball rolling … get their design on … write it up … build the dream … create a plan … draw the blueprint … make the magic happen … YES!!!
Four hours later, I had several facts in place. Track season would conflict with any meetings and Christine Wheat would be the planner. Amanda’s friend had a nice conversation (via text) with us about her own wedding. Amanda’s dad,”Fajie” was looking for dinner via cell phone, but “Majie” already had it covered with a whole plate of chicken ready at home — just in case our meeting went late. I learned that Majie bakes bread better, and more often, than Bountiful Bread. As I drove home, I remembered someone said something about white. Three days later, I pulled the file … nothing … I had nothing to work with based on my notes. Because there were none. So I thought to myself, “They trust you. Just write it!” So I did. I sent a copy to Amanda and got an email back that said, “Looks great!” ??
Fast forward >>>>because I’m sure you get the idea … it took a total of 11 meetings. I had to separate the girls and scheduled two daytime meetings so I could have my wits about me.
Thousands of text messages, emails, phone conversations, and hundreds of wee mee movies “to better express our feelings” later… I am feeling very blessed and honored to have dedicated the better part of an entire year to bringing this one home.
[SinglePic not found]We created 149 floral arrangements with over four thousand stems of white flowers, placed 135 table linens, hung 900 yards of fabric, set 600 chairs, placed 316 glass chargers with 316 custom menus folded into 316 napkins for the guests, lit 478 candles, positioned 65 pin spots to highlight each arrangement and set 54 LED color-wash lights. Without exaggeration, the list goes on and on. In addition to the overall design needed to set this one up, I did push hard for the all white dance floor for this event. When Majie got the OK from Fajie, I ordered a custom monogram by Paper Dolls and had a 54” transfer made as a gift for Amanda & Shane. I also customized our new mobile design room for its maiden voyage to carry the bridal and attendants bouquets to Amanda’s parent’s home and to move the magnificent arrangements of double dutch delphinium to the entrance of the aisle. The flowers framed Amanda and her father as they start the walk that changed this families’ life.
This wedding starts the Fall Design line up by yours truly, Enjoy the pictures and stay tuned! Thank you to those who made this one glimmer like gold — Christine Wheat, my crew at CPRC, management and staff of the Hall of Springs for a warm welcome at every event and for giving me permission to do my thing, and to my Renaissance team of 12 superstars. To the Elarios, looking forward to seeing the pics!
